Negative temps today darlings!  Oy vey, let's hope Punxsutawney Phil does not see his shadow come February 2nd, because I'm not sure about another 6 weeks of Old Man Winter is what anyone desires.  Floppy knit hats, my trusty boots and layers of tights are the name of the game these days to keep me from getting frozen and from being stuck in the house.  Yes, when the windchill hits minus 30, it can be very easy to complain but nonetheless, this past weekend brought me

- plenty of time to make music on my ukelele.
- teach myself more about my new accordion and attempt to play a song on it in front of people!
- a visit from my sister and her hubs and making my sweet potato soup for them.
- dinner at a friends house....cheers to great company and great food.
- bowling at a bday party.
- almost completing decorating our living room...one more thing to do.
- scoring a vintage 60s lamp and a plethora of perfect winter sweaters at the thrift store.
- some of the most gorgeous sherbet colored sunsets.

So in spite of living in what feels like Siberia at times, these little moments of sweetness are just enough to keep the heart warm.

How about you?  How are you finding ways to make the most of this wintery weather (if in fact it is winter for you)?

Outfits:Mellow Mushroom

Outfit Details:
Dress & Tights: Modcloth
Blouse: Anthropologie (on sale)
Hat & Bag: Vintage, thrifted

Ello there darlings,

We are officially snowed in again...same old story, right?  Anyhow, as things have been incredibly busy for our little fam, I am happily taking this day and declaring it an official lounge day.  This meaning that I may just be in my pajamas all day long, building blanket forts and reading Dr. Seuss with the kiddos, soup and hot chocolate will be gracing the stovetops, and for the Mr. and I...we will be searching for the perfect show on Netflix to cozy up to once the evening comes around.   Call me crazy, but I'm welcoming the snow with open arms this time around.

And psst...I am completely smitten with my mushroom blouse right now.  The Mr. was ever so sweet to get me it as part of my bday present last year.  Ok that's all now.

Have one cozy and snuggleumptious Tuesday my friends!

Outfits: Streets of Philadelphia

 Outfit Details:
Sweater, hat, bag: Vintage, thrifted
Dress: c/o Oasap
Tights: We Love Colors
Boots: Michael Kors via Marshall's

Phew, what a week it has been thus far for me and the wee fam!  As I said in my last post - we spent the first half of it with no water due to a frozen and very broken pipe and what an eye opener that was.  Truly makes you appreciate the littlest things in life, like running water and beautiful friends that brought groceries over to us while the Mr. was also very sick with the flu, watched our little ones for a bit to give this tired mama a break, and opened up their shower to us, so we weren't grease balls.   Yeah, it may have been rough at moments, but we all survived!

Prior to all the exciting dramatics that occurred this past week, the Mr. and I spent a couple days in Philly and again got a chance to explore the city.  It just never gets old to me.  The weather was crisp and just perfect for prancing about the brick streets with no coat - just a big cozy sweater over my dress.    On this day I had the best Mexican Mocha one could ever imagine and thrifted a pretty red coat with an assortment of vintage buttons down the front and a corduroy skirt with pups embroidered all over it.  It was a winning afternoon all around.  You know, the kind of day that makes the tough ones ok.

So there you have it.  It's Thursday and I've got an inkling that the sun is going to shine and it's gonna be another sweet weekend all around.

Outfits: The Flying Fox

Outfit Details:
Dress: Swapped with Sammi
Sweater & Tights: Target
Hat: UO
Boots: Michael Kors via Marshall's

Foxes and balloons have nothing to do with one another but this sweater/dress duo sure did match to a T and make one perfectly playful combo.  Yeah, it's a bit child-like I suppose and what's a gal my age - which I won't tell ;-) doing walking around doused in prints like these?  Keeping young at heart...that's what.  There's really nothing wrong with indulging oneself every now and again...though I have to admit, I've slowly been gravitating towards some more classic pieces as of late.   But hey, I kind of like feeling like I stepped off the pages of a children's storybook...after all, this wee ensemble had me feeling rather Seussish and I quite like that.

The dress is another swap from Sammi...can I continue to gush over all the delightful prints this girl has to her name?  Jump here to see how the Soubrette Brunette herself styled the beauty up.

Anyways, it's Monday...and what a jammed packed weekend it was again, all in Philly...coffee in an old victorian row house, brunch at one of the Iron Chef's restaurants, a hockey game, and my son's baby dedication.  Oh yeah - and we returned home to broken and frozen pipe and now water...yay.  I'm keeping my head up though :-)

So tell me darlings...how was your weekend?  Wishing you one happy Monday!

Outfits: Big City Kitty

Outfit Details:
Hat: Forever 21
Bag & Brooch: Vintage, thrifted
Tights: Hue
Shoes: Gift from mother

Visiting Philly is quite a nice change of pace from our quiet mountainside town.  This warm and windy day found the Mr. and I window shopping on Rittenhouse square and stuffing ourselves to the gills with macarons and hot chocolate.  Sounds lovely right?  But in all honesty days like this are few and far between, making them all the more special.   Because it's been a busy season in our lives as of late, afternoons like this feel well deserved.   I'm resolving that we set more days like this aside in 2014.

Cheers to just that!

Wishing you one loverly loverly week darlings!

Happy New Year darlings!

Welcome to my very first post of 2014 and another cold winter weekend to go along with it. Probably like many of your towns, mine has hit negative degrees...boo.  So not my thing, but nothing like hitting the road for some weekend trips to break up the long winter months.

This day found the Mr. and I driving through our old stomping grounds at Valley Forge National Park, near the college we attended.  Gotta love taking a mosey down memory lane.  We used to watch the sunrise here and listen to Van Morrison and Jeff Buckley.  Feels like yesterday...but that was 11 years ago!

So with another New Year my resolution...er, goal is to simply get myself and my little fam outside more.  For some reason, this past year found us inside a lot...could be that having a newborn on my hands found me more tired than usual...yes that is an understatement!  Not that it's a bad thing...reading books, building castles, and indoor play is fun but I recently read somewhere that many of the best childhood memories that people have are the ones that took place outdoors.  True or not, I really just love the idea of creating more memories with my 3 boys under the bright sunshine and wide open sky.  So bring on more days at the lake, more nature walks, more ball playing and yes maybe even some sledding.

Cheers to one sweet and lovely 2014!
