This was just another sunny and cool afternoon spent with Albert hiking the backroads in our neighborhood.  We made it all the way to the other side where the dam lies so peacefully against the mountainous backdrop.  For the several times I've been here, no one else has remotely been seen around.  Except that is, for our friends and their lovely dog, Ingrid.  Fancy running into them on this day.  There's a concrete pad that jets out into the lake at the end of the dam and I do suppose this would be the perfect place to park myself with a book once summer is here.  This town is small simply put, so life lately has been about exploring the great outdoors.  No complaints here:)

On a different note, thanks so much for your sweet comments regarding my article.  It was positively encouraging to an average every day gal like me.  I know on Chictopia it upset some that they would have even chosen me and considered my body type to be put in this category since I am more just a curvy, fuller figured gal rather than plus size, but still I do think us "in between" ladies get overlooked in the world of fashion as well along with true blue plus sizes (18+), so I was throughly proud to represent on behalf of all curvy girls out there.

Enough about me...how about you?  Any fun plans on the horizon this weekend??

See you soon!
Love bunches,

  4. i am so sorry for missing your post, i'll definetely check it out now! super excited that they choose you Marisa, you are such a fab lady and your post about accepting our body the way it is and stop trying unhealthy diets totally inspired me. i've gained lots of weight lately due to personal and very stressful events happening in my life, and everyday i hear so many people being mean and your post inspires me in a way you cannot imagine. thank you for sharing, i'll check out your 5 tips for curvy girls.
and you should know that even though we have different styles, i adore your style and i am inspired so many times by you.
p.s not to forget that little bow and hat are adorable

  6. p.s sorry for another one comment but i read your article and you lady you are fab! and i am glad i met you via blogging as well.
i can totally identify with you, as i was mocked by friends in high school and school in general for my curves as well. and imagine that i live in Greece where pretty much everyone has curves. but nope people can be as mean as it takes when they want to.
so seeing that there are other people out there with the same life expiriences makes me feel so much better

    1. Wow Marianne, that's just awful how mean people can be when it comes to someone else's image. I'm sure most of it stems in their own insecurities about themselves. I can't even imagine though because really you are quite a drop dead gorgeous girl (inside and out):)

I seriously just left a comment on your blog...and when I picked up my phone, I saw you just did the same thing on mine....hehe. Great minds:) Thanks for reading my article so much...your are so sweet and I'm the same way with weight...I always gain in times of stress...plus I just love sweets way to much. Hoping you can find some peace and rest for the soul and the mind amiss your stress. Wishing you the very best! xx Marisa

  8. i totally agree with you about being an "in between" sized lady in the fashion world. i wanted to jump onto that comment board and defend your honor! but i decided that my response would be too snarky, and just kept to myself.

the fact is, "plus sized" is a broad term. of course it's absurd that you or i would ever be considered plus sized, but when it comes to the realm of fashion, that's what we are.

i never see women representing my body type in the media. but when i do, they're always termed under the "plus sized" umbrella. and that's where things get confused, i guess.

  9. You're really rocking the sailor look here :) I completely missed your chictopia article so just after reading it now - I think you're a real role model for plus size girls! Each outfit you wear is so perfectly suited to you and worn to perfection! Loving the backdrop in these pictures too...isn't it lovely to have nice secluded spots to snap pictures - I often wonder how style bloggers manage in jam-packed cities!

  10. Loved the article and am glad they picked you! I am an in between gal of 8 and love that you've given awesome tips! Anything for those of us not so blessed up top? =P

  11. I don't think that the definition of size is that important. Maybe it's because I'm small, but it really upsets me the way people go up in a roar about "plus size" "curvy" and all that. It's okay to be in between a size or whatever. Regardless your post was really wonderful and I shared it with girls of all heights/shapes. They enjoyed it! That's all that matters. Plus you're beautiful and I really want this dress. How in the world do you luck out like this? I'm in love.

  13. Such a cute outfit : )
At first I was surprised that they put you as a plus size girl (some comments on my blog think I'm plus size) but I agree with you that it's the midsize girls that get overlooked in the fashion world.

    1. What? You? No way! That's absurd!
The sad thing is that the fashion world considers models who wear a size 8 plus size. Since last year I've dropped from a size 12 to a 6/8...mainly just all the extra baby weight pounds I am shedding. Even when I was at a 12, I never considered it plus size...just curvy/average..same as now.

  16. I just read your article! And I must say I agree, I'm also not a plus size but neither I'm a skinny one, and us inbetween girls are quite ignored by the fashion world. Which is, in my humble opinion, rather wrong, because let's face the truth, us inbetween girls are the majority, isn't it?
Anyway you did it once again, girl, you made me fall in love with your outfit :)

  18. ah! this dress again - i love it on you. it's really cute - and the red sweater and hat are just perfect.

you always find the most beautiful areas for photos.

and i guess i always thought you were fairly petite/tiny? hah! but i see curvy - i think curvy is good and more the norm than not. i loved your article

  19. Awe, I've always loved sailor pieces of clothing! What a cute dress and the scenery is so peaceful and beautiful! These photos remind me that we're not exploring this place where I live, SoCal, as much as we should. I wonder where you live ...

And by the way, I think it was very smart of them to have chosen you to write such an article. I'm honestly sick of seeing model looking girls who own blogs and as many expensive (and so not original! in some cases, in my humble opinion) clothes as they please. That's not what I'm interested in. So, well done! ;)

Hope you're making nice plans for the weekend! ;D
